Amplification: Trinity RA-2020 Phono Pre-amplifier

If you are a vinyl enthusiast, then you will know the importance of a good phono pre-amplifier (phono stage). The Trinity RA-2020 provides the required gain to effortlessly drive a range of phono cartridges, both Moving Coil (MC) and Moving Magnet (MM).
Usually we do not supply exact specifications of our products. At the end of the day, a given piece of equipment could have the very best specifications, but may not work in synergy with your system. For those though who are interested, we provide the latest specifications below. Note that due to constant development, these specifications may change without prior notification from our part.

Description
The Dewaudio Trinity vacuum tube phono preamplifier was developed with a couple of objectives in mind: good gain levels, quiet operation, accessible tube types, warm tube character, minimalist construction, and both Moving Coil and Moving Magnet inputs.
All these objectives have been achieved and have been thoroughly tested.
Zero Feedback
This is a term that is not fully understood by most end-users. The Trinity does not use any feedback to either control the gain or do the RIAA equalisation correction. What you get is pure triode gain stages for maximum triode tube sound. Any form of feedback diminishes the inherent vacuum tube triode character to a point where such an amplifier sounds like a solid-state one. I do not want to create a tube phono preamplifier that sounds like a solid-state phono preamplifier. The RIAA passive correction network sits between two high-gain ECC83 triode stages. This gives the listener the best possible warm tube sound with an excellent RIAA correction curve.
Step-up Transformer
The additional gain needed for moving coil phono pickups is managed by the perfect device for the job, an audio transformer. The units employed in the Trinity are Japanese-made and are shielded in a mu-metal enclosure. This ensures the perfect impedance matching for most MC cartridges in use today.
Regulated power supplies
Each preamplifier channel is supplied by a regulated high-voltage supply to keep crosstalk as low as possible. Star-grounding is also employed throughout the unit.
Minimalist design
The whole unit is designed to be as minimal as possible. It has one purpose and that is to provide amplification and RIAA correction for a turntable system. The anodised aluminium faceplate features a power switch and a power indicator. Switch the unit on and within 45 seconds the mute relay switches, and the unit is ready to use.
SMD Devices
The gain stages all feature surface-mount thick film resistors in all the positions where critical signals are present. SMD resistors have been chosen because they are all developed with cutting-edge technology and processes.
Each Trinity phono preamplifier is tested on an Audio Precision audio analyser for noise and performance.
The Trinity phono preamplifiers are crafted in small batches and cannot be custom-ordered. This ensures the highest possible craft quality.
